Departing Paris is always sweet sorrow, but more adventures awaited me in Switzerland!
My third Curated Staycation of 2025 was scheduled for the second week of July, with a home base in Geneva. I arrived in advance of my guests to settle in and get the full lay of the (Switzer)land.

Sunset over Lake Geneva

As I was staying in one spot for two full weeks, I based in an apartment just outside of Geneva in a small village called Tannay. The village offered a quiet stay, a coffee shop (open only in the mornings) with a bakery and basic provisions, a delicious restaurant open only in the evenings, and the most amazing view of the Alps over Lake Geneva.

My first excursion from Tannay was back to France, just across the border to Divonne, regionally known for its outstanding market. In addition, I was delighted to find a real grocery store -- with things like milk and the regionally protected salt, Sel de Guérande IGP. With a full kitchen in my apartment, I confidently stocked up on provisions for the two weeks.

| Curated Staycation: Switzerland guests after enjoying real Swiss fondue! |
The next day, I was delighted when my Curated Staycation: Switzerland guests arrived! During the week, we took tours of Geneva, enjoyed fondue and chocolates, took the train into the Alps, visited the adorable village of Annecy France, and basically enjoyed all the time away from steamy south Louisiana!

The day my guests departed for the US, I took the train around Lake Geneva, all the way to Zermatt, home of the Matterhorn. And WOW!! The scenery, the vibes, the everything that is Zermatt ... SPOILER ALERT: I loved it so much that I'm heading back this year!

Upon my return to Tannay, I spent my days exploring Geneva's Old Town, riding boats back and forth across the lake, visiting the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, sunning along the lakeside, wandering through the UNESCO World Heritage terraced vineyards, and savoring sunsets more spectacular than I ever imagined.

Finally, my two weeks in Tannay had come to an end, and I hopped the train for a few days in the French Alps. I loved exploring so many places with Tannay as my base, but I had already had a taste of where I was heading next, and I couldn't wait to be there!
