Staycation 2026: a very French affair

Curated Staycations are back! The main attraction in 2026 is rest and relaxation, something we could all use a little more of these days.

WHERE ARE WE GOING FIRST?

In 2025, I brought my dream of Curated Staycations to life. The guests on my Staycation: Switzerland fell in love with the French town of Annecy -- as did I! So this year, I'm inviting guests to vacation with me in Annecy, France.

This year, as in 2025, I'll be staying in your same hotel or very nearby. And inspired by last year's experiences, instead of including just one activity in your registration fee, I'm including three! And of course you'll have plenty of flexible time to explore on your own or to simply enjoy some R&R by the lake ... or maybe even a Spa Day.

SO WHAT ARE WE DOING IN ANNECY?

* A boat tour of Lake Annecy. I've taken several different boat tours during my two trips to Annecy, and I'm booking Curated Staycation guests on the best option available. Amazing!

* A tour of the amazing Gorges du Fier and Chateau de Montrottier. I personally have done this tour, and I can't wait to share it with you! A magical castle and natural wonders in the French countryside? Sign me up!

* One poolside "Evening Salon." A self-guided tasting of French wines and fresh seasonal juices, local cheeses, and fine Swiss chocolates, all while relaxing poolside with stunning views of the Alps rising over Lake Annecy. Ohhhhhh yes, please!

The above activities are included for each and every Curated Staycation guest. In addition, staycation guests will have easy access to so many other activities in the region, such as

* Visiting the castle that inspired Sleeping Beauty

* Paragliding over the Alps (no, I'm not joining you!)

* Day trips to nearby destinations, such as Lyon, Geneva, or Chamonix

* Picnics by Lake Annecy (a very popular summer activity in the region!)

* Kayaking, hiking, biking, and otherwise exploring in and around the French countryside near Lake Annecy

* Explore Annecy's Old Town (La Vieille Ville) and castle, maybe even join a food tour

* Michelin-starred wining and dining: the region offers more than 20 restaurants from the Michelin Guide -- including one at the Curated Staycation hotel!

As part of your Curated Staycation, I am available to help you schedule and coordinate any or all of these activities.

WHERE ARE WE STAYING?

The perfect place! Curated has selected a boutique hotel that overlooks Lake Annecy and the Alps on one side and a beautiful forest on the other. The hotel offers a spa, a pool, a Michelin-starred restaurant plus another more casual option, and of course a peaceful respite, just on the edge of Annecy.

Only a few rooms remain available, with options including one or two beds. Upon registration, we will discuss room availability with then-current pricing, and I'll book your room on your behalf.

HOW DO I GET TO ANNECY?

Annecy is about an hour from Geneva, two hours from Lyon, and four hours from Paris. Trains are available from each city, or I can arrange a private transfer for you. While I don't book airfare, I can assist you in finding the right flight that meets your schedule and preferences.

CAN I STAY LONGER AND VISIT OTHER CITIES?

Of course! Great add-on destinations include Geneva, Montreux, Zurich, Zermatt, Paris, Lyon, Provence, and other options across Europe. A river cruise would be another great way to extend your European R&R for another week or two! 

BONUS: For any additional European travel up to six nights immediately before or after your Curated Staycation in Annecy, I am waiving my usual travel planning fee (a value of $450) when you rely on me to book your additional week of lodging and excursions.

WHAT'S THE TOTAL PRICE?

Honestly, that depends on personal preferences and real-time pricing. The non-refundable Curated Staycation registration fee is $299 per person, which includes an evening salon, a special boat tour of Lake Annecy, and a tour to the Gorges du Fiers and Chateau de Montrottier. Additional activities are available at a variety of price points. From New Orleans to Geneva, roundtrip airfare currently ranges from around $1,000 for a basic economy ticket to more than $10,000 for first class. Lodging prices currently range from about $325 - $500 per night with one or two people per room. 

So what's the total price per person? Truly, that depends on your selections and preferences, plus then-current pricing. We can discuss up-to-date info during our one-on-one conference call to decide whether this is the right trip for you -- or how much extra time you want to spend in Europe during 2026!

And where's the next Curated Station 2026? That is TBD, but I anticipate my first ever domestic Curated Staycation in the early fall!
