Has this ever happened to you?
You're dreaming of a trip to Paris, and you excitedly share the news that you are finally going to make it happen!
And then you start getting unsolicited travel advice ... like ...
"So my best friend's brother's half-sister said if you go to Europe, you should visit Pompeii." Which is in Italy. And you're going to Paris. Which is over 1,000 miles away.
People mean well. Really, they do. They are sharing their experiences, and sometimes it's very helpful!
But their experience was just that: their experience.
Maybe they were on a group tour focused on the highlights of western Europe, and your trip is a deep dive into local culture. Maybe they were on a cruise, visiting exciting port cities, and you are exploring the interior by train. All of these -- and more! -- are valid ways to travel, but there may be little overlap between the trip experiences or the travel styles.
Just like each person is unique, each vacation is unique.
How to plan the best vacation for you?
* Think about your vacation goals -- and find ways to make them happen.
* Do the research (or hire a travel planner -- like me! -- who loves to research).
* Stick to your budget -- every destination offers a variety of price points on lodging, food, and experiences.
* Figure out your logistics: does it make sense to add Paris to your Italy itinerary? Maybe ... but there's a good chance the answer is no.
Best Practice: When you are planning your vacation, focus on you and your travel companions. Do what works for you ... no matter what your 4th cousin twice removed might suggest!
Need a little help with planning and logistics? I am accepting a few new clients for bespoke travel itineraries ... I have extremely limited availability remaining through Summer 2025.
* If you already know exactly where you want to go and where you want to stay? I can (usually) book those options for you - no planning fee required (and I might find you some great perks!).
* Want to join a group trip or take a cruise? Yes, I can (usually) help you book those, too!
* Or join one of my Summer 2025 Curated Staycations for a semi-custom itinerary merging the ease of a group trip with the joy of independent travel!
