When my husband and I talk about Jersey, people (almost) always think we mean Jersey ... like Jersey Boys, Jersey Shore, New Jersey.
But these days, we usually mean the island of Jersey. OG Jersey, if you will.
Jersey is a crown dependency of England located off the coast of France in the English Channel. It boasts about 45 square miles of surface area -- plus a bit more when the seabed is exposed during low tide. An extreme distance runner could circumnavigate the entire island in just a few hours, and many people could easily ride a bike along the route.
Barely larger than Alexandria, Virginia, you might wonder what Jersey could possibly offer a visitor. Well I'll tell you: quite a lot!
Cliff Walks
Wineries
Michelin Guide restaurants
Jersey cows --- yes, for real!
(BUT NO PICTURES OF THEM!)
Dramatic tides on the southern coast and dramatic cliffs to the north
Museums & WWII History ... Germany occupied the islands of Jersey and Guernsey during the war.
Waffle House and the Melting Pot --- but different than the ones you might know in the U.S.
Island-wide public bus service
A short ferry ride to France (or a longer one to the U.K.)
Boats, boats, and more boats
Sea pools and Tidal pools
Pubs, pubs, and more pubs
Charming lighthouses

Better yet ... let's talk about a future Curated Staycation ... because YES, I am ready to return!
